Back down to the P.A.P early for the second swim of the week and was surprised to see the 'Shire's' finest had graced us with her presence, Yes Laura paid a visit and was joined by Sonya for some laps and pool running as she overcomes her latest injury setback.
A good 700m long warm up before hitting a series of sets that included 500m, 400, and loads of 50m efforts trying to lift the pace over the shorter reps.
Pretty happy to knock out 2.5ks for the morning - probably the longest I've done for a long time.
Still nowhere near fast but nice to get back in the pool and get the arms ticking over. Extra incentive being the A.B.C Biathlon dates were released earlier this week and Tommy H has already started the banter, although i think he'll have his work cut out to beat me this year as I'm running stronger and he's far from in any sort of form.
Thursday October 8th is the night to lock in to get yourself front row seats at the Boy Charlton, just to see his 300m swim is worth the admission alone.
Mid-morning was into town and just worked real easy pace for 5ks with client at 6 minute plus pace. Glute still playing up :(
Entered for my first tri of the year as well for October 25, have to head out to our glorious West though for the Nepean 1k swim, 30k bike and 10k run. Already locked in fellow HuRTS boys Pete Walker and Champ for this one. Pete the 'Gun' on all 3 disciplines has agreed to give me 6 minutes handicap start (he should nearly cover that in the swim alone) and The Champ and I are going off scratch - That one will be close as Champ is swimming and biking stronger than me at the moment and it will come down to how much i can run him down by?
Returning to the pool tomorrow to end the week, and then back into town for the evening to help celebrate the Chairman Tommy H's 45th Birthday drinks, lets hope it doesn't go too crazy as i need to work early Saturday morning.
Never shy of the hard training, Shire Lass but adopted Eastside girl Laura James hits the pool as part of her recovery running.
After hearing about the Biathlon dates Tom wasn't wasting anytime in trying out his NEW Birthday toys as he hopes to improve on his swim leg in an effort NOT to get 'Chicked' this year.
Happy Birthday to the old bugger.
Cheers
That’s a crazy workout. I haven’t done any training that hard since my cross-country days in college, so reading about your routine really brought me back. I always had issues with my glute as well – stretching it and icing it can help, but really the only sure cure I found was just laying off of it for a couple of days and starting over with a lighter workout.
