With a tough week under the belt after Noosa, and even harder week with social drinks last Sunday and then Melbourne Cup Day it was out to the home of the Striders Lane Cove for the 10th and final race in the series. Good turnout from the HuRTS boys with Tommy H, 'B Grade' Binfield, Heydon, Macca McClarnon, Walker, and C.T in attendance and the chance for the first time for the season to try to beat the 'TIGER' (Gary Howard). Usual trash talk at the start and warmed up with Tom and Hayden before the starters gun set us off on our way.
Settled in early behind Thiengy and 'The Tiger' going through the first k in about 3.25 (?) but already felt it was harder then it should have been. but managed to get the break on Tiger after coming down the hill at about 3ks. Tried to Stay on 'Vietnam Vuong's (Thien) tale but seemed to labour up the big hill on half way, but again somehow managed to close the gap coming down.
Had some real ups and down throughout the 10ks today and never felt comfortable in truth, but still crossed the line in a respectable 35.45 for the morning and a possible 8th or 9th overall, holding out Skippy Hayden , MaccaMcClarnon and the Tiger some 40 odd seconds behind?
Today's k splits were (or close to) :
3.24, 3.33, 3.41, 3.35, 3.44, 3.33, 3.31, 3.33, 3.39, 3.19
Best part of the morning was relieving Chairman Tom of another $20 - after he showed a lack of confidence (not to mention support) for Young Timmy thinking that i wouldn't run a sub 36 :)
Well done to Tom though on getting 3rd beating C.T and winning a few $$$ in the process and i think B'Grade got 5th as well despite never running the course prior to today.
All eyes turn to Homebush now and the BIG return of Kanser.......... The man is flying and if he doesn't go low 34s it will be a huge disappointment to his fans and the kids ? good luck to Tucks, J- Fen, Richie High who are all going around in the morning, lets hope its not to hot?
Went down to Bondi at lunch for a swim and met up with Enda and Krone, In treacherous conditions that saw resident HuRTS Hardman JC left sitting on the beach building sandcastles it was left to the UK boys to show some steel and tame the big waves and wash on show. It was that big i thought i saw Kelly Slater at one point:)
good old swim down to the Icebergs and back, feel pretty tired now mind you - but hopefully a few drinks will soon get us going again :)
Have a good weekend ,
Cheers
Well done Timmy, noticed a shadow behind me with a head wobble just after 1km. I did my best to hang on, but no chance.
ReplyDeleteCheers Tiger, yes Head Wobble, Legs were wobbly to going up that hill i can tell you.
ReplyDeleteWell run though on your first run back ?
